Grace Jones - Warm Leatherette [ZSHARE] [YSI]

Warm Leatherette was released as a 7 inch back in 1978 by Daniel Miller who (a film student at the time) used a very basic bedroom recording set-up to record a one-off single. This was to become the first release of his Mute Records (and subsequently Novamute) label. The lyrics were heavily influenced by the book he was reading on holidays in Greece, J.G Ballard’s Crash>
Warm Leatherette has not enjoyed the continued popularity of other electropop tracks of the same era (although it was named ‘Single of the Century’ by Sounds magazine!) And was also covered by Grace Jones in 1980.  We can’t any evidence of Miller recording more material excluding the B-Side T.V.O.D
