Stars Of The Lid - That Finger on Your Temple Is the Barrel of My Raygun [ZSHARE] [YSI]

2007 was a year that can be described as a ‘nocturnus horribilis’ for me, in that sleeping was not high on my list of priorities. I’d work till 3am and only then i’d try & relax by channel hoping for another hour, if that proved fruitless i’d engage in some desperate youtubing, trying to find any form of entertainment in bizarre pattern of pixel-junkyesque manor.

in 2008 i’ve been engaging in far more stable night time activities like reading and listening to music before going to sleep and these days and I feel a whole let better for it. Concentration and interest in engaging in social activities are a side effect of this newly found normality. 

One of the soundtracks to my new found stability at the moment is Stars of the Lid’s double album Stars of the Lid and Their Refinement of the Decline. We’re not going to use the term ambient as that word is no longer in our dictionary but with influences from composers such as Arvo Pärt, Zbigniew Preisner and Henryk Górecki and acts like Labradford that can be most appreciated in the hours in which the world has gone to sleep and your not long to follow. 

They haven’t released any new material to our knowledge since 2001’s Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid, but they did engage in a brief European tour last year and do plan to tour again in late 2008 so some new material can’t be too far away.
