69 - Desire [ZSHARE] [YSI]
Being its Christmas day and there’s very little on I thought i’d be generous and share with you one of my all time favourite pieces of electronic music. The artist is 69 (pronounced “six nine”) who is yet another alter-ego of Detroit’s Carl Craig (the name comes from the year he was born) Its a really emotive piece of music that evokes images futuristic rainy night time cityscapes. Almost childlike in its simplicity; a breakbeat and a slightly out of key shimmering synth line that sounds like it was recorded on an old tape deck.

Ah man — I remember buying this on vinyl in ‘97 in Brighton, and over lunch in a cafe leaning it against a radiator pipe, to find that after coffee the 12″ had wrapped itself neatly around the pipe. Took me two months to find it again. Hook a president up with an MP3, maybe via email?
This sounds really strange but I stumbled across this post while looking for music to play at memorial service for a friend of mine. His name was Tim Guest and he was a student in Brighton in the 90’s. He was a huge Carl Craig fan. I don’t know if you sent him a copy but if you would you be able to send me one, it would be most appreciated.
