Michael Andrews - Time Travel [ZSHARE] [YSI]
As the end of the year approaches I guess we should be compiling our end of year chart and perhaps we shall but not today. Instead i find myself digging through tonnes of old music (stored at my parents house) I came across original score for the Richard Kelly movie Donnie Darko. An earily simplistic piece of work that i think matches the imagery as perfectly as any film i can remember.
Michael Andrews was asked to come up with a suitable piece to link the closing sequence together. The film was already heavily based around 80’s music and themes. He approached childhood friend Gary Jules to provide vocals on a cover of the 1982 Tears For Fears hit Mad World. I personally found it very strange but also refreshing that a piece of music like this could claim the ‘hallowed’ Christmas number one slot. especially when considering the company it was among.
